Not Everyone is a Nice Guy

I wrote the other day about how you shouldn’t be afraid of the gym and I still firmly stand beside that but I just want to clear something up about what I said. Not everyone is a nice person or is respectful to other gym members or the equipment in the gym.

Tonight was a perfect example of that. I went to the gym like I do every day and here was this guy who was fairly well built. I thought nothing of it until inbetween his sets instead of picking up his weights and putting them back, he would throw them at the weight rack and then pick up new weights and throw them at the wall which was near the bench he was using (also I found out later that this was the same guy who had broken a mirror in the weight room last week doing the same thing).

Something else that he insisted on doing was going around to people and yelling at them as they were lifting weights. If they wanted encouragement, they would have brought someone with them but he just couldn’t leave other people alone. Also every time he went to start a new set, he would yell as if to tell everyone to look at him because he’s super strong.

The long and short of it is that not everyone is there to get healthy. Some people are just there to be obnoxious and ruin the experience for everyone else.

I'm a university student currently attending Saint Mary's University and majoring in Criminology. I spend most of my free time going to the gym, driving my motorcycle or hanging out with friends.
